Training Methodology

The training method in all of REACH's training programmes is participant/problem-based and needs-centered. The central aspect of this method is the presentation of problems placed within the context of every day experience. Lectures, case studies, group presentations and discussions will be used to reinforce this training method.

Module 2

Research and Evidence Based Policy Learning: A Solution Based Approach

At the end of this training module participants will be able to:

  • Acknowledge and appreciate the role of cultural diversity in BME communities and effective research and management of health services within the BME communities.
  • Identify the 'growth-negative' and 'growth-positive' culture sensitive factors for appropriate research and engagement with people from BME communities.
  • Develop culturally sensitive interpersonal relationships and team-building skills within the BME communities for problem identification, problem solving and decision-making.
  • Share relevant knowledge, experiences and strategies in health delivery and management with people from different cultural backgrounds, countries, regions, and religion within the BME communities in Scotland.
  • Understanding the significance of cultural diversity and learn the skills needed for researching BME communities.
  • Comprehend the many challenges when researching BME community health issues.
  • Develop an understanding of research methodology processes for BME community health issues.
  • Identify possible barriers in participative research within the BME communities.
