Clinical Services

REACH's current Health Clinics combined with Health Promotion and Education

Coronary Heart Disease Information Advice and Education Clinic

in Partnership with Greater Glasgow and Clyde Pharmaceutical Public Health Department. (Funded by Johnson & Johnson formerly known as Pfizer Consumer Healthcare)

The disparity between policy and practice with regards to the BME community's appropriate access to information on medication has been well established. The advice and information clinics are for people from the BME community who have some form of coronary heart disease (CHD). The aim of the clinic is to provide those who attend with a clear understanding of how to manage their condition effectively, take up a healthier lifestyle and so improve health outcomes.

Smoking Cessation Clinic

in Partnership with Greater Glasgow & Clyde Pharmaceutical Public Health Department. (Funded by Pfizer)

This innovative clinic is based on the 'Starting Fresh Project' which was rolled out in Glasgow in 2006. BME Men attending the clinic are given a 1-1 consultation with a Pharmacist and then supplied with NRT over a 13-week period. During this period patients are provided with appropriate therapy and support needed to give up smoking.

Health Promotion Seminars

in Partnership with Diabetes UK, Cancer Backup Scotland, and Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board.

Various health promotional seminars and workshops are delivered to the BME community with the aid of linguistically appropriate media and materials.

Clinical Therapeutic Massage

REACH takes a holistic approach to health and understands that both physical and mental factors can affect health. At present this clinic offers access to culturally sensitive single sex facilities for BME women. The clinical holistic therapist provides a range of treatment options including Therapeutic Massage, Aromatherapy, Clinical Reflexology, Heat Treatments and Indian Head Massage.

Previous Clinics

Previous Clinics have included the Wellman Clinic in which REACH successfully established its first Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the local SE Community Health and Care Partnership in order to bring the City Wide 'Wellman Clinic' to REACH where BME men underwent General Lifestyle and Health Screening via the support of a Nurse.

Future Clinics

  • Diabetics Clinic
  • Substance Misuse Clinic
